Senior Jazmin Williams has been nearly impossible to get out
Hitting a softball really isn’t easy. It’s just that Steele Canyon’s Jazmin Williams makes it look that way.
In her most recent game against Holtville, Williams went 2-for-3 and saw her batting average drop a few points.“I get up and look for a certain pitch,” said Williams, a Cal State Fullerton signee who also plays outfield and has committed just one error all season. “But if I don’t get that pitch, I adjust to whatever the pitch is. I learned that from my dad , who has been teaching me since I was 5 years old.
As a sophomore those numbers jumped to .435 with 18 doubles, four homers, 27 RBI and 14 steals. That earned her All-Grossmont Hills first team and Player of the Year honors. “Earning All-CIF is a rare accomplishment for an East County player,” said Cougars coach Kevin Pearlstein. “She plays for the Breakers Labs, a good traveling team, and she practices on her own.
