Hearty but not heavy, these comforting soups will warm your soul in the chilly autumn air.
November puts me in the mood for soup. Frankly, in light of recent world and national events, steamy, brothy comfort food is about all I can stomach. It may feel like we are on the brink of World War III out there, but at least in my own kitchen I can turn off the noise and relish the few moments of inner peace that downing a bowl — or a whole pot — of good, hot soup can bring. Thea Bauman’s Chickpea And Escarole Soup With Crispy Bread Crumbs is one of my favorites.
Our California Heat spice blend collaboration with Burlap & Barrel is selling fast. Inspired by all of our favorite spicy condiments, especially chili crisp, it's made with a variety of chiles, including jalapeño, chipotle and Kashmir chile, as well as lemongrass, Timur pepper and black lime. Spicy, citrusy, smoky and tingly, it's available to purchase online. What really elevates this soup is the Parmesan hunk of rind that simmers in the soup as it cooks.
