🔴 Football legend Pele 'moved to end-of-life care' in hospital, Brazil news outlets say

Pele, 82, has been moved to palliative care at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, according to Folhua, the Brazilian daily newspaper. He has beenThe former footballer was admitted to hospital last week suffering from ‘general swelling’ and ‘heart failure’. On Thursday Pele was reported to be in a stable condition in hospital and that there was no cause for alarm.
However, Folhua said Pele was no longer responding to the chemotherapy treatment he has been undergoing to treat his bowel cancer. His treatment has now been suspended and he is receiving measures to relieve pain, the report added. Pele, whose full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, is regarded by many as the greatest footballer of all time, having won three World Cups, scoring 77 goals in 92 appearances for Brazil.On Friday he thanked fans via his Instagram account for their messages of support, and shared a photo of a ‘get well soon’ message projected onto a building in Qatar during the World Cup.
He said: “Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit. It’s always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!”
