New laws brought in during 2022 makes the gesture illegal in New South Wales with a maximum jail term of 12 months. “Police are urging anyone who may have information about this matter to contact Surry Hills Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”The incident comes after a Melbourne Victory supporter was issued a five-year ban by FA for the use of the gesture at the same ground during the club’s Unite Round fixture earlier this season.
