Colorado residents who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps, will be issued their first payment for the month of August in one day.
In the Centennial State, SNAP benefits are issued starting on Aug. 1 and going through Aug. 10. Exact payment dates depend on the last digit of a SNAP recipient's Social Security number.For example, if a recipient’s SSN ends in a 1, their SNAP benefits will be available on the first of the month. If a recipient’s SSN ends in zero, payments will be allotted on the 10th of the month.
The amount of SNAP benefits Coloradans will get is stringent upon multiple factors such as household size and income, including earned income and unearned income. The maximum payment for one person is $281 per month. The maximum payment for a four-person family is $939, while a household of eight could receive a maximum payment of $1,691. For every additional member after that, the program will add a maximum of $211.The program issues monthly benefits on an electronic benefit transfer card, which can be used at qualifying stores to purchase eligible grocery items such as bread, dairy products, meat and poultry, and drink items.
Those interested in applying for SNAP benefits have multiple options to submit their application — they can do so online using the Colorado PEAK website, by downloading the MyCOBenefits app on a smartphone, or by filing in person at a local county human services office.
