The food stamps program in Virginia will finish distributing monthly benefits within the next two days.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the Old Dominion is sending out its payments to beneficiaries on Virginia EBT cards from Aug. 1 through Aug. 7 for this month.Most food stamp recipients have had their benefits for the month of August loaded onto their EBT cards, with those with a case number that ends in zero through three getting their payment during the first wave on Aug. 1 and those with a case number ending in four or five seeing their benefits during the second wave on Aug.
Beneficiaries with a case number ending in numbers six through nine will see their benefits during the third wave on Aug. 7, which will complete the distribution of the food stamp payments for the month. The next round of monthly benefit payment distribution will begin on Sept. 1, under the same schedule as for the August payments. To be eligible for food stamp benefits in Virginia, a person may not make more than a certain income depending on household size.A one-person household in the state may not make more than $2,265 a month, while for a household of five, the maximum monthly income to qualify for the program is $5,412.
Food stamp benefits in the Old Dominion can be used to purchase"food or food products meant to be eaten by people," along with seeds and food-producing plants, among other things. Those using SNAP benefits may not use them to purchase nonfood items, alcohol, tobacco, medicines, gardening items, cleaning or paper products, pet food, or prepared hot foods.
