The latest figures released by Stats SA show food inflation was at 6.6-percent in September, that’s above the headline inflation of 5-percent.
Pick n Pay which lost R1.7-billion due to the recent looting and COVID restrictions says its kept food price rises at bay. 212 stores, which is a tenth of the group’s base, were hit by the looting but Pick n Pay’s profit after tax rose 87-percent in the six months to August.
