Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that allows healthcare providers to deny care to LGBTQ people based on religious or moral beliefs. LGBTQ advocates say the law could lead to discrimination and harm.

This law also allows medical professionals to refuse to provide service to anyone for ethical, moral, or religious reasons — including emergency situations, meaning that an emergency responder, more than one in eight LGBTQ people live in a state where they can be refused care by medical providers.
