The Florida Republican Party has 1 million more registered voters than Democrats in the state, its chairman announced.'Our success goes beyond just numbers,' Evan Power, Florida's GOP chairman, said in a statement released on Sunday. 'It's about a vision to make Florida the beacon of freedom for the rest of the county.
'As well as electing a Republican governor, the state has two Republican senators and Republican representatives serving 20 of its 28 congressional districts.Carol S. Weissert, emerita professor of political science at Florida State University, previously told Newsweek that Republicans' growing influence in Florida has been happening for years, noting that Democrats have not held control of the state Legislature or the governor's office since the 1990s.
