More than 12" of snow possible with areas of blowing snow.Florida state Sen. Randy Fine, R-District 19, on Monday announced the proposal of a bill to revoke in-state college tuition rates for illegal migrants.
The measure, SB90, would repeal a 2014 state law granting such students in-state tuition rates at Florida’s 12 public universities and 28 state colleges. He wrote in a press release the 2014 bill cost taxpayers $45 million per year. “President Trump has made clear it is time to close the border and stop giving illegal immigrants rewards for breaking the law,” Sen. Fine, a Harvard University graduate, wrote via X. “While blue-collar Floridians are struggling to make ends meet, it is not fair to require them to pay $45 million a year to subsidize sweetheart deals for college degrees to those who should not even be here.”
“This is a no-brainer way to reduce the size of government and free up resources to help Floridians in need,” he added. “We must put Floridians first, and I am proud to do my part to rebalance the scales for our citizens.”“Good Bill Randy!” he cheered. “Shamefully, Republicans actually passed in state tuition for illegals when I was in the Legislature. I fought against it. All who followed the Speaker like lemmings and voted for it saw their electoral prospects evaporate. It is quite the lesson.
Sen. Fine is running for Congress in a special election to replace Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla. President-elect Trump recently selected Rep. Waltz to serve as his national security advisor. Trump has endorsed Sen. Fine’s congressional bid, calling him an “American-first patriot.”Jackson Walker on X at @_jlwalker_ for the latest trending national news. Have a news tip?
