Invoking the Alamo, Ron DeSantis issues battle cry to Houston Republicans
has never been higher. On Tuesday he released a book and will follow up a two-day run through Texas with stops in California on Sunday and Iowa later this month.
DeSantis has emerged as a potential front-runner in early polling because he said he’s not afraid to take on the Left, the media and even other Republicans in the pursuit of his agenda. He said for too long conservatives have not fought back enough. To illustrate that point he referred to legislation he signed in Florida going after Disney World’s special tax and governing status. He said Disney for decades had been so powerful in state politics that it used to get everything it wanted.
Abbott has already pressured the University of Texas, Texas A&M University and other schools to pull back on DEI initiatives that advocates have argued help schools diversify their professors and staff.
