Florida Eye Specialists expands again with new partnership
Florida Eye Specialists, the largest multi-specialty eye practice in Northeast Florida, has added to its network with a new partnership. Barnhorst Eye Associates, which has been a Jacksonville provider for almost 25 years, will now practice under the Florida Eye Specialists name.
With this partnership, the Nocatee and Arlington locations of Barnhorst Eye Associates and its teams will join the Florida Eye Specialists network. According to a release, the partnership will increase access to surgeons in cataract surgery, refractive , glaucoma and cornea treatments across the region. This announcement comes after several years of rapid growth for Florida Eye Specialists, which has added 12 new offices to its network in eight years. Barnhorst Eye Associates, Nicolitz Eye Consultants, Chokshi Vision Center, Eagle Eyecare and Maida CustomVision are among the practices that have joined Florida Eye Specialists. The network now has 20 eye doctors available across 13 offices. CEO and managing partner Dr. Rajesh K. Shetty said in the release that he is optimistic about this new addition to the network. “Northeast Florida communities are growing rapidly, and access to specialty eye care is more needed than ever," he said. “Dr. Barnhorst and his team have an impeccable reputation of nearly 25 years of excellence in eye care. It’s a natural partnership that brings our patients an increased network of providers, locations and specialties.” Donald A. Barnhorst Jr. is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained cornea specialist. “The team at Florida Eye Specialists represents some of the premier eye specialists in the state. I’m excited to be part of this organization and to bring my skills to this group,” Barnhorst said in the release. “Since joining Barnhorst with Florida Eye Specialists, not only do I have fellow corneal specialists I can work with on cases, I can refer patients to my colleagues for complicated glaucoma problems, eyelid problems, retinal issues and more.”
