The Pinellas County, Florida, deputy can be seen in the video jumping onto the runaway boat and quickly bringing it under control.
LARGO, Florida — A Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputy made a move worthy of Tom Cruise, jumping onto a moving boat that had lost its driver at more than 40 mph and bringing it to a stop. The sheriff’s office says the incident occurred on July 30 on the Gulf of Mexico when the U.S. Coast Guard called asking for assistance in stopping the runaway boat. The driver of the boat reportedly fell off the vessel but was rescued by another boater.
“And yes, Deputy Fernandes does his own stunts,” the sheriff’s office says in the post. The deputies were able to tie ropes to the boat and tow it to shore. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
