A man and woman from Florida were arrested for allegedly forcing their way through airport security at Miami International Airport . One of them reportedly threw coffee in a staff member's face. According to reports, the couple attempted to push their way past security in an effort to board their flight.
Videos circulating online appear to show multiple officers trying to restrain the man, identified as Seirafe-Novaes, while another staff member grabs the woman, Rapoport De Campos Maia's, arm before sitting her down in a chair. Seirafe-Novaes is then shown being led away in handcuffs before being placed in the back of a police car. Social media users reacted with a mixture of anger and amusement at the incident. Some expressed sympathy for the airline staff, while others questioned the couple's motives. 'Guy had enough time to get a coffee but not be at his gate on time...the sense of entitlement is real,' one person wrote. 'They are closing that door earlier and earlier. On my flight in December, the plane door was closed and locked 20 minutes before takeoff,' another added. 'There’s another video showing that they were at the gate while other people were still boarding. So I don’t think they were actually late,' another user commented. According to reports, Seirafe-Novaes fought with a gate attendant, and one of the suspects threw coffee on someone. Police were called to the scene, and both Seirafe-Novaes and Rapoport De Campos Maia were taken into custody. Seirafe-Novaes and Rapoport De Campos Maia were each charged with two counts of battery and trespassing on property after warning, while Seirafe-Novaes was also charged with resisting arrest, booking records note. 'Prior to boarding American Airlines flight 2494 from Miami (MIA) to Cancun (CUN), law enforcement responded to the gate for two disruptive customers,' American Airlines said in a statement. 'Acts of violence are not tolerated by American Airlines and we are committed to working closely with law enforcement in their investigation.
