❄ SD➡NYC- Severe weather is snarling air travel: 🌞 Happy & warm holidays for San Diego:🌴 📫 “This is our World Cup, March Madness & Super Bowl.” USPS employee Jae Lunario takes us on her mail route.

Don’t let the sunny skies and summerlike weather at the start of winter fool you: San Diego is being impacted — in the form of flight cancellations and delays — by the winter storms blanketing much of the nation.

As of 1:45 p.m. Friday, 64 flights were delayed and 20 were canceled at SAN due to severe weather in other parts of the country.Kayla Snyder and her significant other know exactly what that means. Thursday morning, the couple made the drive down from Temecula to catch a flight to Houston. Upon their arrival at the San Diego International Airport, they checked their flight status only to find out their flight had been delayed.Sign up for NBC San Diego newsletters.

“We figured if there was a chance, and had a small little hunch,” Snyder said. “But you never know what’s going to happen. You just got to take it as it goes.” As Snyder was trying to skip town, Natalie Feldkamp was just arriving. Feldkamp flew in from Chicago with her family after a layover in Minneapolis with no delays.

Despite our sunny skies, travelers should prepare for winter storms delaying flights all over the country, NBC 7's Brooke Martell reports.
