STARK COUNTY, Ohio - A homeless man was arrested early Monday after allegedly leading Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers on a chase in a stolen car and crashing into Taggarts Ice Cream .
Troopers said Preston Cingle, 23, slammed into the Canton restaurant in the 1400 block of Fulton Rd. NW around 2:12 a.m. According to troopers, when they attempted to pull over Cingle, he tried backing up from 14th Street across Fulton Road and ended up in the building.Facebook post from Taggarts Ice Cream:
“Fortunately there are no injuries. However, we had an unexpected visitor in the middle of the night. Everyone is safe and we are going to work diligently to get Taggarts back open. Thank you all for your support.”Cingle was not injured and was booked into the Stark County Jail on multiple charges, including, grand theft of a motor vehicle, vandalism, failure to comply, OVI, and hit skip.
