Hip-hop artist Flavor Flav took the field as the Duke’s Mayo Bowl mascot, revealing himself after Minnesota’s victory and delivering a mayo bath to coach P.J. Fleck.
The Duke’s Mayo Bowl has drawn a cult following in the college football universe over the last few seasons thanks to its sponsor and outlandish postgame mayonnaise dunk of the winning head coach. If that wasn’t enough to entice a college football fan, this year’s game also added some suspense when it was revealed that hip-hop artist Flavor Flav would be the mascot.
And finally, when all was said and done after the Gophers’ 24-10 win, it was the man who famously wears a clock under the mascot suit: hip-hop artist Flavor Flav. As Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck awaited his moment in mayonnaise glory, the top of the costume — fittingly a mayo bottle with a yellow lid — was removed with the rapper underneath.
