Officials say a fire is active along Bay Area Boulevard.
First responders have been called to a reported "flaring" at the LyondellBasell plant in Pasadena .The facility is on Chaote Road by Bay Area Boulevard.Multiple agencies from La Porte, Pasadena , and Harris County are said to be responding to the scene.
LyondellBasell says their emergency response personnel were also called.According to an alert from East Harris County's Community Awareness Emergency Response , the situation is a "flaring" caused by "operational conditions." Flaring is said to be a "safety and environmental control device used to manage and combust process materials."Officials say no one near the facility has to take any action at this time.As of about 11 p.m. Thursday, Harris County officials say no injuries have been reported and everyone at the scene of the fire is accounted for.Air quality is being monitored."At approximately 9 p.m., a fire occurred at LyondellBasell’s Bayport Choate site. In line with our established protocols, our on‑facility firefighting and incident response teams were immediately activated and are working to contain the fire with support from Channel Industries Mutual Aid, as well as firefighting teams from our neighboring sites. At this time, there is no threat to the surrounding community and no action is required by neighbors. We can confirm all personnel are safe and accounted for. The safety of our employees and our neighbors remain priority as response efforts continue."This is a developing report. We will update when more information is available.
