Flames destroy home in San Diego's Chollas View neighborhood [Breaking]

A fire ripped through a house Friday night in San Diego’s Chollas View neighborhood, displacing four residents from the destroyed home and two from an adjacent dwelling, fire officials said.

One person sustained minor smoke inhalation injuries, but no other injuries were reported, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Chief David Senviratne said. The blaze was reported just after 8:10 p.m. at a single-story home on the corner of 47th and Craigie streets, Senviratne said. Crews arrived to find heavy flames and smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters began aggressively battling the blaze and searching the home for anyone that might be trapped inside, Senviratne said. Nobody was inside the house, but a person who had already made it outside showed signs of smoke inhalation. Paramedics were treating that person at the scene and working to determine if they would need to take the person to a hospital, the battalion chief said.
