The young girl has set her sights on eventually climbing Everest

A five-year-old girl from Belfast has completed the Mournes Seven Peaks Challenge by climbing the seven highest mountains in the range.

Speaking to Belfast Live, her mum said: "We went for a walk back in May and I had taken her up the Glen River Trail from Donard Car Park. We got about half way up and I said that it was very steep and suggested that we turn back and go back to the car but she said no, she wanted to walk to the top. On a walk, Avery met Petra Armstrong from Wild Mountain NI who gave her sweets to keep her going and she then told her mum that she wanted to join the walking group.

"At the weekend we done Donard which was then the Seven Sevens done and she got her medals so she was pleased as punch. She also knew that when she was doing a walk. she was getting ice cream at the end of it so I think she may have done it for the ice cream more than the challenge," her mum laughed.
