SUNGAI PETANI: A five-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a resort where his mother was applying for a job here on Monday (July 13).
Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Adzli Abu Shah said the victim's mother had brought her son along to the hotel for a job interview prior to the 1.30pm incident.
"While waiting for the result, the victim's 19-year-old mother left her son to play near the area where she had the interview. "After about half an hour later, the boy's mother realised that her son was missing," he said in a statement.He said the hotel staff called for an ambulance and the boy was rushed to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital.
"The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival," he said, adding that the post-mortem examination confirm that the boy had drowned. ACP Adzli said the investigation also found there were no CCTV cameras at the pool area and pool was about 30m from where the interview took place.
