In the sixth, he issued his first walk to Yordan Alvarez with one out, then struck out Jose Abreu before he allowed a two-out run scoring double to Michael Brantley. Bochy had bullpen arms up, but didn’t budge from his spot on the bench and Eovaldi struck out Chas McCormick on a splitter for the final out.Over his final two innings of work, Eovaldi faced the tying run in five different at-bats. He recorded three strikeouts in those matchups.
On the way to a 2.25 ERA through the first seven games of the postseason, Rangers starters have allowed just four walks in 40 innings and three homers. All three homers have come with the bases empty. Don’t give up free baserunners and a few homers won’t hurt you.The Rangers didn’t hit any balls really hard in the first inning, but still grabbed a crowd-stifling 4-0 lead.
