The Texas Rangers are playing the Houston Astros in game 7 of the American League Championship Series and Adolis Garcia has been one of the Rangers’ best players.
Adolis Garcia is in his fourth year with the Texas Rangers and the two-time all-star has blossomed into one of the MLB’s best sluggers over the past three seasons.Here are five things you might not know about the Rangers slugger, a 30-year old Cuban native:
1. Garcia is nicknamed El Bombi and has been since his youth. He received the nickname from a childhood friend. The name has nothing to do with Garcia’s proficiency to hit bombs, but because his friend thought his head looked like a light bulb. 2. Garcia set an American League Championship record on Monday during game 7 against the Houston Astros. Garcia set the MLB record for most RBIs in a League Championship Series surpassing the previous mark set by fellow Ranger, Nelson Cruz.also played in the Major Leagues with the Atlanta Braves from 2015-2017. Adonis’ best season came in 2016 when he batted .273 with 14 home runs and 65 RBIs.
4. Garcia is the godfather of Tampa Bay Rays all-star Randy Arozarena’s daughter. The two met in the minor leagues when they played in the St Louis Cardinals organization. 5. Garcia made MLB history on April 22 when he went 5-for-5 with three home runs and two doubles.
