Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola has decommitted from Ohio State, delivering a crushing blow to the Buckeyes' 2024 recruiting class.
Raiola, formerly one of the most vocal peer recruiters for OSU in its 2024 cycle, was quiet after Smith's commitment and did not post on social media after the Florida prospect gave his verbal to the Buckeyes. That was unusual considering his willingness to peer recruit for OSU in the past.
Raiola didn't reach the lofty goals he set for himself in the preseason of throwing for 40 touchdowns and 4,000 passing yards, but he still had a nice junior season for Chandler High School . This fall, Raiola completed 178 of 278 passes for 2,435 yards with 22 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran for two touchdowns.
Following his commitment, Raiola traveled to Columbus in the summer for a recruiting camp for a day of work with Dennis and Day where he threw passes to 2023 Ohio State wide receiver commit“It's just very important to really come out here and get work in and never settle. I always want to get better, learn from the best in the world and Coach Day’s the best coach to do it,” Raiola said shortly after the camp. “I want to obviously get back out here and learn.
