Xavier Griffin , a five-star linebacker committed to USC since July, will be returning to Los Angeles for an unofficial visit on February 1st. This will be Griffin's fifth trip to USC. He expressed excitement about seeing the Trojans play in person and witnessing their impressive defense. Griffin particularly highlighted the defensive coaching staff, stating that he's eager to see what they accomplish next season.
Although Griffin remains committed to USC, other schools continue to pursue him aggressively. He recently visited Florida State and will be heading to Tennessee this upcoming weekend. His proximity to these schools makes the Trojans' fight to retain him a crucial one. Griffin emphasized the strong relationships he has built with both coaching staffs, noting that they maintain constant communication despite his commitment.USC's 2025 recruiting class has been marked by both successes and setbacks. While the Trojans secured commitments from top prospects like five-star defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart and four-star offensive tackle Alex Payne, they also experienced decommitments from several highly-touted recruits, primarily from the Southeast. These included Justus Terry, Isaiah Gibson, Hylton Stubbs, Dominick Kelly, Ty Jackson, Carde Smith, and Duane Morris. Despite these losses, USC coach Lincoln Riley has an opportunity to finish with his highest-ranked recruiting class as a head coach.
