Five current and former Buckeye football players and national champions Sophie Jaques and Adelaide Aquilla are among 47 OSU athletes receiving degrees from the university today.
A total of 47 current and former Ohio State athletes are receiving degrees from the university at Sunday’s summer commencement.includes five current and former Ohio State football players: Josh Proctor, Gee Scott Jr., Mitch Rossi, Noah Ruggles and Lloyd McFarquhar.
Proctor, who is entering his sixth season with the Buckeyes, and Scott, who is entering his fourth season with the Buckeyes, are both graduating with bachelor’s degree in human development and family sciences. Rossi, Ruggles and McFarquhar, who all played their final seasons at Ohio State last year, will each receive master’s degrees on Sunday .
Other notable graduates on Sunday include Sophie Jaques, who led the Ohio State women’s hockey team to its first-ever national championship in 2022 and won the Patty Kazmaier Award as the best player in women’s college hockey in 2023. Jaques, who is receiving his second degree from Ohio State – a master’s in civil engineering – will get a diploma Sunday alongside three of her former women’s hockey teammates: Madison Bizal , Riley Brengman and Emma Maltais .
Adelaide Aquilla, who won four national champions in the shot put and qualified for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics during her Ohio State career, will receive a certificate in public management from OSU on Sunday after previously receiving her bachelor’s degree in both communications and hospitality management from Ohio State in 2022.
