Despite seemingly being without a director, Jason Blum has revealed a major update in the FiveNightsAtFreddys film's development as Jim Henson's Creature Shop is working on bringing is animatronic monsters to life.
After over seven years of development, the Five Nights at Freddy's movie has gotten a major update from producer Jason Blum. Created by Scott Cawthon, the survival horror video game franchise generally puts players in the shoes of a nighttime security employee at the titular family pizza restaurant as they monitor the various security cameras, lights, doors and vents to defend themselves against the evil animatronics that make up the restaurant's colorful mascots.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY With this popularity, development on a Five Nights at Freddy's movie has been underway since 2015 when Warner Bros. first acquired the rights to the game and tapped It producers Seth Grahame-Smith, Roy Lee and David Katzenberg to produce, Ghostbusters: Afterlife's Gil Kenan to direct and co-write with Child's Play's Tyler Burton Smith.
Blum's major update for the Five Nights at Freddy's movie comes a few months after the producer teased that news on the project was "dangerously close" to being announced to the public.
While Blumhouse may be looking to get a jump on pre-production for the project, Blum's update revealing that Jim Henson's Creature Shop has gotten to work on the Five Nights at Freddy's movie seems to indicate that a new director may have been quietly attached to the project.
