Data exclusively obtained by Glasgow Live shows that as of October 11, there were 1622 warrants outstanding for crimes such as murder, rape, domestic abuse and abduction.

Five suspected murderers are among the hundreds of suspects that are currently wanted in connection with various crimes across Greater Glasgow.

Currently five people are wanted in connection with murder, one with attempted murder and five wanted for firearms offences with a further 36 for offensive weapons.Other crimes include domestic abuse , child abandonment , coinage/counterfeiting , brothel/prostitution , drugs - supply/use , bail offences and breach of the peace .

Chief Superintendent Nicola Russell, Criminal Justice Services Division, said: "The number of outstanding warrants is constantly changing as officers are actively utilising all available resources to locate individuals on a daily basis. The number outstanding at any one time is higher than the number of individuals wanted as there can be multiple warrants in place.

“Those facing arrest should be aware that we will follow all lines of enquiry and utilise all available resources to locate individuals as soon as possible.”
