The five tests to lift lockdown restrictions were set out in April
A government business minister has said the five tests for starting to open the country up have been met.He told Sky News: ‘We’ve followed the scientific advice, we believe that we’ve met the five tests now and it’s an appropriate time to start opening up so people can go back to shops, they can stay alert, making sure that retailers have put all the measures in place they need to stay safe.
‘Clearly things are going to be different – there will be one-way systems around, hand sanitisers will be around and the kinds of things so the experience will be different, but they can go out safely now.’He insisited: ‘We’ve looked at the scientific advice from Sage and PHE and we believe it’s safe to go out now and start shopping.’Mr Scully also indicated that the two metre distancing rule could be reduced.
He told Radio 4’s Today Programme: ‘It will take a matter of weeks to do but we want to make sure we get the best scientific advice. ‘We can look at the international comparisons because clearly you have the likes of Germany it’s one-and-a-half metres, America is one-metre and see how those differences land in terms of the health guidance.
