Five men were convicted in Las Vegas of charges connected to running an illegal streaming service that featured hundreds of thousands of copyrighted television
shows.
The Justice Department said a federal jury returned a guilty verdict for the five defendants - Kristopher Dallmann, Douglas Courson, Felipe Garcia, Jared Jaurequi, and Peter Huber - who ran the subscription service Jetflicks. The group used computer software to scour the internet for illegal copies of television episodes, downloaded the shows and hosted them on Jetflicks' servers, the Justice Department said. The catalog for Jetflicks was larger than the combined catalogs for Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and Amazon Prime, according to federal prosecutors, and the group made millions of dollars in subscription fees.
All five were found guilty of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement. Dallman was also convicted on charges of money laundering and copyright infringement.
