Mental health of students and faculty, teacher retention are top concerns.
Five candidates are vying for three open seats on the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District board in the Nov. 8 election, and board president Katherine Tseng said the newly elected board will be making important decisions in the coming years.
The other four candidates include two retired teachers and one current teacher, which Tseng said is fairly rare in that there’s only been one teacher who has run for the school board in the last 10 years, . Misty Davies, a parent and project manager, moved to Los Gatos 16 years ago after living in rural Oklahoma.
Chen said he has firsthand experience with the challenges and demands put on teachers during the pandemic, and experience working in a team-oriented environment.
