A "FIT and healthy" truck driver spent five days fighting for his life in hospital after falling ill with coronavirus, as his wife paid tribute to the heroic NHS staff who saved him.
According to the post, Mick started to show symptoms of the virus on the weekend of March 21, complaining of a cough, a high temperature and aching bones.On Wednesday morning, shocked Tracy saw her husband slumped on the sofa after he collapsed while getting ready for work."I thought he'd had a heart attack. He gasped. He was trying to say he couldn't breathe. I gave him an inhaler and rang 999."She added: "He was scared and on his own.
Tracy also paid tribute to the "amazing" medical staff who saved his life and "applauded him" as he left hospital. "The hospital staff lined the ward and applauded him out as he left, THEY saved his life and THEY applauded him!"Just last year, Mick had done a hike marathon and had no underlying health conditions."He's such a fit, strong guy. He is never sick."
