Ambulance Victoria has announced the resignation of its CEO just weeks after two major healthcare unions passed 'no confidence' motions in the organisation’s leadership.
The resignation of Ambulance Victoria CEO Jane Miller has been welcomed as the 'first step' towards 'fixing the service' but the job will be 'massive'
“Jane has seen the organisation through some significant challenges, including leading the post-pandemic recovery, and helping chart a course for ongoing cultural reform and improvement,” Ambulance Board Chair Shelly Park said in a statement. The dispute culminated in July when both the Victorian Ambulance Union and the Ambulance Managers and Professionals Association took the unprecedented step of passing “no confidence” motions in the leadership of Ambulance Victoria.
“AV has been heading in the opposite direction for the past two years. The work involved in fixing the service will be massive, but this is the first step in the right direction.” The AMPA director noted that Ms Miller's resignation followed the departure of Sam Richards, who had been Executive Director of People & Culture at Ambulance Victoria, before commending the appointment of Mr Crisp.
Victorian Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas thanked Ms Miller for her time as Ambulance Victoria CEO, pointing out she had taken up the role"during a really challenging time".
