Emergency services group, First Responder KZN, says their paramedic who was attacked while on duty on the N3 is being treated for shock and is getting counselling. ECRNewsWatch KZN
The female medic was attacked by three men while attending to an accident near Felix Dlamini Road in Durban central.Spokesperson for First Responders KZN, Derrick Banks, says their paramedic pulled out her own weapon and fired warning shots.Banks says paramedics face many dangers when on field and try to resolve issues whenever they can.
"Our paramedic was in danger, especially being a female and being on her own at that accident before all other paramedics arrived on scene and she had to fear for her life and she was able to due to her safety training and with her firearm licence and her firearm training, she was able to retaliate a little bit and save herself.Police say they're still investigating and haven't charged anyone in connection with a shooting.
