The first memorial scholarships have been awarded in honor of FedEx shooting victim Matthew Alexander.
AVON — Since last April, the family of Matthew Alexander has worked daily on carrying on the legacy of their late son and brother after he was killed during the FedEx mass shooting. “Live a good story” is a simple phrase, but one that carries weight for the family.
In June, Schubert and Kondas learned they were the first recipients of the Matthew Alexander Memorial Scholarship The scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors on the Avon varsity baseball team that epitomize “live a good story.” “It seems like not that big of a deal, but being able to honor someone like that — it’s unreal,” Schubert said.If Matt were here today, the recent Avon grads would have the following to say to him.
