The First Frontier Rodeo Circuit Finals, one of the largest rodeos on the East Coast, is drawing record-breaking crowds at the Pennsylvania Farm Show . With cash prizes reaching up to $250,000, the event is a major highlight of the Farm Show . It was Military Appreciation Night at the rodeo. To kick off the evening, service members rappelled down from the ceiling of the New Holland Arena, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
Thursday evening's rodeo saw record breaking numbers, and Friday and Saturday night sold out, hosting a combined 14,000 spectators. Ty Rumford, a roper, described the atmosphere, stating, 'This building, when it starts filling up, you get to seeing all the people, you can feel that energy and that excitement. You know it's one of those places that takes on a personality of its own, or life of its own.' Brock Hower, president of the First Frontier Rodeo Circuit, emphasized the caliber of the competition, saying, 'So this is the finals, so we have the best of the best, the top 12 in each of the pro rodeo eight events.' Rumford said the rodeo athletes begin preparing for the Farm Show Rodeo in the spring. He said Harrisburg is the place to be when it comes to top competition. 'You know you go to your first rodeo of the season, and this is where you wanna be. So you know this is a culmination of a year's work, you know, and when you even just say Harrisburg and you think of the Farm Show, you know you kinda get that ball in your stomach, you get excited because that’s what you work for all year,' Rumford said
