As a low pressure system moves through the Intermountain West this weekend, it will produce showers and thunderstorms.
Monday is another First Alert Weather Day in northern and central Utah , as well as southern Idaho & southwestern Wyoming. We won't get as many thunderstorms today as we've seen lately. But the ones that do pop up will have the potential to produce heavy rainfall resulting in flooding of poor drainage areas, as well as small hail, gusty winds, and lots of lightning.
These storms are most likely between 2-8 pm. Some of them could impact the evening commute, making that drive slower than normal. After today, drier air will move into western Utah which will prevent thunderstorms from forming along the I-15 corridor for several days. A few scattered thunderstorms will still be able to pop up in eastern Utah though where monsoon moisture will remain.
By the weekend, a low pressure system will begin to move through the Western U.S. Out ahead of it, winds will be gusty at times throughout the week. Then as the low pressure system moves through the Intermountain West this weekend, it will produce showers and thunderstorms. It will also drop our temperatures below normal by about 5-10 degrees, so a little relief from the heat looks like it will be coming.
The 2News Weather Team will keep you updated throughout the day on the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms. We'll also continue to update you on the wind, rain & cooler temperatures that will get here later in the week. Stay up to date on air, online, and on the
