Highest snowfall amounts are likely in Nome, Kotzebue and Point Hope where over a foot of snow is expected by the end of this storm which will fizzle out by Sunday night in Western Alaska, with some lingering snowfall and wind into Monday. Wind gusts up to 40 mph in Kotzebue up to the North Slope will add to the danger of this storm creating white out conditions. The North Slope will see 7 to 11 inches of snow, now through Monday. Wind gusts across the region will reach 35 to 45 mph with 70 mph gusts expected in Point Hope. This storm will shift into the Interior by Saturday night. Heaviest snowfall amounts in the region will fall into Fairbanks and the Central Interior with over 12 inches of snow accumulation by Tuesday night.
