Summer heat and humidity returns to the area with only small chances for a few afternoon pop-up thunderstorms.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The cooler air was a welcome sight for many people around the region, but it’s going to feel much more like summer once again over the coming days.
Our usual summer pattern that we’re used to seeing around this time of year starts setting back up over the area starting today, and we’ll continue to see temperatures turn hotter with much smaller rain chances into the weekend. After a few days of scattered showers and thunderstorms and plenty of cloud cover keeping temperatures cooler, we should see more breaks in the clouds and more sunshine through the morning and into the afternoon.
A few isolated downpours are still possible later this afternoon, but the number of people that see rain later today should be much lower than those that got rain over the last few days. That returning sunshine turns temperatures warmer again, and afternoon highs are approaching 90° in many spots later today. No real changes to our overnight conditions.
Any rain that’s out there late this afternoon clears through the evening, then we should see partly cloudy to mostly clear skies through the night with lows in the lower and middle 70s. This pattern stays very consistent once it settles into place late this week.
We’ll see partly cloudy to partly sunny skies each afternoon with a continuing 20% to 30% coverage of small pop-up showers and thunderstorms bringing some rain to a few lucky locations. For most of us, it’s hot and dry with highs reaching the middle 90s by Friday and continuing to hit those same marks each day through at least the middle of next week. Feels-like temperatures could start approaching 100° by Sunday.
While nowhere near as widespread as earlier this week, there will still be some small downpours out there each afternoon.
