A dramatic swing from freezing this morning to spring warmth through the weekend and into next week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Freeze warnings are in effect this morning across central and south Alabama, but relief is on the way. A dramatic weather pattern shift is underway, bringing spring-like warmth by the end of the week that will continue through the weekend and into next week, along with plenty of sunshine and dry conditions.

This Morning: Freezing temperatures continue with frost and freeze conditions across the region. Freeze warnings remain in effect through mid-morning. Afternoon: Partly sunny skies return with noticeably milder conditions. Afternoon highs will climb to the upper 50s to low 60s — warmer than yesterday but still running below normal for mid-March. Lighter winds out of the north will keep it from feeling too bad. Tonight: Mostly clear skies develop as the freeze threat ends. Lows will settle in the upper 30s to low 40s. It will still feel chilly, but no freeze warning is expected.Sunny and comfortable conditions take over with a much more spring-like feel. Highs will climb into the upper 60s to low 70s as southerly winds return. This will be a great day to get outside — perfect for a walk, yard work, or just enjoying the fresh air after the recent cold snap.Temperatures continue to rise noticeably, with highs reaching the mid-70s to near 80 degrees. Mostly sunny skies will make for excellent weather for outdoor plans.
