The fire sent one man to a hospital with second- and third-degree burns covering roughly 20% to 30% of his body
in a Sussex County lake the night before Independence Day are facing municipal charges.
The injured trio — a 23-year-old woman, a 28-year-old man and a 22-year-old man — were issued summonses filed in Andover municipal court in Newton on July 4, the day after the incident, officials said.The charges include using dangerous fireworks and endangering another person, both fourth-degree offenses, officials said. They were also issued a summons for possessing or using fireworks, a petty disorderly persons offense.
They found a homemade barge on fire, said Lt. Daniel DeWald. Police said the commercial-grade fireworks exploded and lit the barge on fire.
