Sky News Meteorologist Rob Sharpe digs into the dangers of this fire season, explaining how they start and what Australians can expect from the “deadly and destructive” blazes. “In extreme or catastrophic conditions, fires will move very quickly and, in many cases, become completely unstoppable,” Mr Sharpe said. “Close to half of Australia’s fires start from lightning striking a tree or grass … the other half are started by humans, either by accidents, such as farm equipment or on purpose by arsonists. “If you live in a bushfire-prone area, you must have a plan for what to do when a fire threatens.”
