Crews were called to the Vape Dinner Lady factory in Shadsworth at around 8.30pm
More than 40 firefighters are expected to continue to battle a huge blaze in Blackburn throughout the night.
Fire crews were called to the Vape Dinner Lady factory in Wilkinson Way, on Shadsworth Business Park, at around 8.30pm tonight . A section of Haslingden Road, which connects Junction 5 of the M65 with the Royal Blackburn Hospital, was closed off as huge plumes of smoke were seen from miles away. A spokesman for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service told LancsLive at the scene, at around 9.30pm, that 10 fire crews were in attendance. He said they would remain there until "at least the morning".Employees of various businesses in the vicinity were evacuated while the owners of the Vape Dinner Lady factory were also at the scene. An aerial ladder platform was used to pour water on the fire from above while firefighters used an angle grinder to gain access to the factory.
Eddie Roberts, a passer-by, said he had "never seen anything like it". He told LancsLive: "It's really close to a petrol station so I can understand why there's such a large response.Ambulances heading to the Royal Blackburn Hospital were forced to use detours via Roman Road. The owners of businesses based close to the fire were attempting to obtain information from the police and fire service.
Nobody is believed to have been injured although paramedics were at the scene. The fire service's incident command unit and welfare unit were also in attendance.
