A commercial unit went up in flames this afternoon behind a busy retail park. At 2.43pm today Merseyside Fire and Rescue attended the fire on Pighue Lane, behind Liverpool Shopping Park on Edge Lane . When firefighters arrived on scene, they were greeted by a single storey commercial unit which was fully ablaze. Fire crews wearing breathing equipment fought the fire, with two main branches. Merseyside Police managed traffic and a cordon was put in place. At approximately 3.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: 'Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is currently in attendance at an incident on Pighue Lane, Liverpool L13. 'Crews were alerted at 2.39pm and on scene within four minutes. Four fire engines were mobilised to the incident. On arrival, crews found a single storey commercial unit fully involved in fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed to fight the fire, with two main branches.
