The fire rapidly extended throughout the building, according to FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh.
Paramedics from Hatzalah transported the woman to Maimonides Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition, according to Assistant Chief of Operations Kevin Woods.Photo by Lloyd Mitchell Battalion 48 quickly evacuated members consisting of 135 members from the two buildings and a conducted a personnel accountability report for all members before units went into a defensive operation as the structure stability was compromised by the fire. Responding units used six hose-lines and four tower ladders to knock down the main body of fire, according to FDNY. The fire was placed under control at 8:30 p.m.
