Two dangerous bushfires are burning in southern Queensland with residents in Tara told to evacuate.
The fires have taken hold in sparsely populated bushland near Tara and Millmerran, west of Toowoomba.
With conditions still making it unsafe for residents to return, shelter is being offered at the Millmerran Showgrounds and Western Downs Regional Council customer contact centre in Tara. "This is a dangerous situation … people in the 'Watch and Act' area around Millmerran Downs, and certainly Cypress Gardens and not to return," he said."It is a situation where we need to look out for each other."
