Montgomery, Alabama

The first fire happened at around 10:06PM last night in the 3900 block of Rosa Parks Avenue. When fire crews arrived, they say flames coming from the roof of a home. No one was inside at the time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The second fire happened at around 4:20 this morning in the 100 block of Eastern Boulevard, which is near the Atlanta Highway intersection. Firefighters saw smoke coming from a vacant building. They got inside using a side door and saw a small fire on the floor. No one was inside. Light smoke was reported inside the building, so ventilation fans were used to clear the air. That fire is also under investigation. Then, at about 7:45AM today, firefighters were called to a fire in the 800 block of Erskine Street. They found a single-story home fully involved. The fire was stopped before it could spread to neighboring properties. One person was outside the home when emergency crews arrived and was treated for a non-fire-related medical condition. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Montgomery Fire/Rescue Bureau of Investigations. Montgomery Fire/Rescue reminds you that you are encouraged to maintain functional smoke detectors in your home and to develop and practice fire escape plans.
