Police in Cedar City confirmed that two firefighters and another person who were injured in a fire Thursday afternoon have been released from the hospital.

Cedar City police confirmed that the blaze started as a wildland fire before spreading to scraps from a nearby manufacturing facility.Tim Jackson, who works at a business neighboring that manufacturing facility, watched from his office as the fire started and spread.

“Once that PVC pipe started burning, it was the blackest, really big and billowing, smoke I’ve seen,” said Jackson. “The first building that the fire was threatening has flammable liquids in it and so my concern level was pretty high.”“I was feeling pretty safe because of the direction of the wind. But, when I saw the fire going towards the building with the flammables in it, I stepped back in case it exploded. You don’t want flying debris hitting you,” said Jackson.

“Our building is metal with a metal structure, so there really is nothing to burn in our building — and, our fire alarm is connected directly to the Fire Department dispatch.”“Imlay Plumbing next door has their own fire hydrant and a fire hose. So they hooked up and helped put out the fire from one side while the fire department was on the other side. They were right on the money and they helped a lot,” said Jackson.
