Officer Javier Granados was fired in July 2023 but will be reinstated with backpay.

A fired Dallas police officer won back his job last week despite an official finding that he violated policy when he was arrested on a family violence assault charge.in July 2023 after police officials said he violated two policies: escalating a disturbance that resulted in a police response and engaging in adverse conduct in connection with his family violence arrest. He was reinstated after a Nov.

“The judge recognized that this termination was unjust and ordered him reinstated,” Snider said. “Officer Granados is extremely happy to return to duty in the job he loves.”The administrative law judge, James Urmin Sr., agreed that Granados violated policy, but determined the termination was not consistent with the outcomes of similar cases, which were less serious discipline, Davis said. Urmin did not immediately respond to requests for comment over phone and email.

The woman said she waited for officers for more than an hour, and Granados left, the affidavit says. She said she went to a home in Dallas, and Granados showed up and closed a door on her finger, spat in her face and slammed her into a door, which caused her ear to bleed, the affidavit says. Granados yelled, “Is this what you wanted me to do?” The woman called police again, the affidavit says. Officers noticed blood on the woman’s ear and a swollen finger, according to the affidavit.Granados was hired with the department in September 2019 and was assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. He will need to undergo training before he’s re-licensed and assigned to a position, a police spokesperson said.
