A two-alarm house fire in Greenwood Township has left a family devastated after it claimed the lives of their two dogs and destroyed everything they owned, according to those close to the family.
Dispatchers said the fire was reported around 11 a.m. Monday at a home in the 300 block of West Juniata Parkway. The road was closed for more than three hours as crews worked to extinguish the flames and contain the smoke. Firefighters on scene said the family wasn't home when the fire broke out, except for their two dogs. No other injuries were reported. "Yeah, it's just really sad. And I just couldn't believe it," said Susan Seiders, who lives across the street. "And I couldn't believe how quick it just totally, you know, it—there was nothing anybody could do.""He was getting lunch for us, and he had just come home, and he knocked on the window and said, 'Jesse's house is on fire!'" she said. The Millerstown Fire Company, along with fire crews from Newport, Duncannon, Ickesburg, and others, worked relentlessly to contain the fire and suppress the smoke. Neighbors said they were worried about the parents and their three kids, who were reportedly living in that home. But many also worried about their own families as the fire grew stronger. " almost sounded like bullets and stuff like dinging and all the things," Seiders said. "So we went into the house because I wasn't sure if there was ammunition, you know, in the fire." A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal did respond to the scene, though it's not clear at this time how the fire started. Officials could confirm that the home is a total loss.State police are investigating a possible domestic dispute after a man and a woman were both found dead in a Perry County apartment on Sunday.A two-alarm house fire in Greenwood Township has left a family devastated after it claimed the lives of their two dogs and destroyed everything they owned.Neighbors of Gov.
